White stem with dark green heavy crumpled leaves. Either steamed, stir-fried, or young foliage eaten fresh, Swiss chard is an excellent kitchen green. With sufficient moisture, it won't bolt in summer - leaves can be harvested from late spring until first frost. Tolerates partial shade well.
